The Loss of a Leader

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Hugh Jarvis on Friday, February 24, 2023. Hugh was a teacher at Grant Middle School in East Detroit Public Schools (now Eastpointe Community Schools). He became a leader and President of East Detroit Federation of Teachers AFT Local #698 (now Eastpointe Federation of Educators). He took these skills to the state level and was President of what is now known as AFT Michigan. Hugh was a strong voice and advocate not just for educators, but for all working people. There are no memorial plans at this time. Friends and colleagues are invited to leave memories here.
